BULA Twilight Star Mousepad Review

Test Environment
▪️Mouse: Mchose A7 Pro
▪️Skates: Mchose black control feet

Basic Information
▪️Glide style: Neutral leaning slightly resistant
▪️Packaging: Flat envelope + reinforced shipping protection, includes a scented sachet (no odor on unboxing)
▪️Dimensions: 490 × 420 × 4 mm
▪️Edge stitching: Slightly recessed below surface level, clean and even stitching
▪️Base: 4 mm custom-tuned rubber. The rubber itself feels between soft and mid (leaning soft), but higher surface hardness makes the overall feel solidly mid. Excellent surface consistency across the entire pad.

Surface
The surface features a finely woven chaotic texture cloth that feels soft and skin-friendly to the touch. Compared to typical cloth pads, it has a noticeably firmer and more structured feel while remaining completely smooth. Under direct light, it displays a subtle metallic sheen, with clean, regular, patterns visible in the texture.

Hand feel
This is a high-start, medium-low glide control pad with a neutral leaning slightly resistant bias. There is a significant difference between initial breakaway speed and sustained glide speed. The start-up is quite fast, creating a clear dynamic friction feel during movement. Larger strokes produce noticeable deceleration, while at higher speeds the resistance actually becomes lower than at slower speeds. This characteristic results in very quick, strong, and immediate stopping power when braking after fast movement.

First-shot placement remains highly controllable thanks to the fast initial speed, and secondary micro-adjustments feel smooth with a slight lubricated quality. Overall, it delivers high start-up speed, medium-low sustained glide, light but present texture feedback, and mild continuous resistance, resulting in a classic neutral-to-resistant hand-feel with a pronounced high-start to low-glide differential. The X-axis feels slightly more resistant than the Y-axis, and hand-feel consistency across the surface is excellent.

Comparison Test
▪️Artisan Ninjia Fx Type-99 (MID)
The BULA feels slightly more resistant overall compared to the Artisan, and its initial breakaway speed is marginally slower than the Artisan. The Artisan offers faster micro-adjustments, a smoother and more lubricated hand-feel, and feels noticeably lighter and easier to move. In contrast, the BULA shows more obvious sliding texture feedback during movement, and it provides clearly superior stopping power when you need to lock in after the initial placement.

For secondary small-range micro-adjustments, the BULA can maintain a slight lubricated feel on tiny corrections while still delivering good confidence and solid control. Overall, the BULA maintains a very competent level of micro-adjustment performance while offering noticeably better stopping power than the Artisan, resulting in more controlled and planted handling, which perfectly aligns with what people generally mean when they say it feels a bit more resistant and control-oriented overall.

▪️Double Z Oculus Basic (high-density foam)
The two pads have fairly similar overall glide speeds. The BULA has a slightly slower initial breakaway speed, while the Oculus offers a smoother and more lubricated gliding hand-feel with more uniform start-to-sustain movement. The BULA provides stronger sliding certainty and more pronounced differences between initial and sustained glide, along with noticeably better stopping power.

The styles are quite different. The Oculus emphasizes silky-smooth and effortless flow, whereas the BULA focuses more on deliberate, forceful control and braking. For small-range movements, the Oculus delivers pure lubricated glide with almost no resistance. In large-range movements, it requires stronger hand control to stop. In contrast, the BULA gives confident, slightly lubricated feel for small-range aiming while providing sufficient natural braking and stopping power for larger strokes.

Summary
The BULA offers a high start-up speed paired with medium glide speed, creating a very noticeable start-to-sustain difference. This fast-start, slow-glide profile delivers outstanding sliding certainty and control. The chaotic weave surface provides the typical texture feedback common in chaotic-weave pads, with the BULA’s fine detailing becoming clearly perceptible during larger strokes. At higher speeds, the felt resistance drops compared to slower movement, giving a distinct dynamic friction hand-feel. It is highly recommended for players in short TTK games like CS and Valorant, where precise first-shot placement is essential and smooth Y-axis vertical movement helps with recoil control and spray management.
